10.x Timeframe
(01-Jan-2018 - 14-Nov-2018)
9.x Timeframe
(01-Jan-2017 - 31-Dec-2017)
Issues Count
- In 14-Nov we already have +4.56% percent increase in the number of issues reported.
- I've marked as positive the increase in reported issues, since more issues means more people testing our products.
Total: 1720++
Total: 1645
Top Reporters
- Our top reporter is still Thomas Mortagne.
- The first 3 top reporters have remained constant, while there were some shifts in the next places.
- In terms of reporters count, our numbers are constant (+0.68% percent increase) with 148 unique reporters in 10.x and 147 unique reporters in 9.x. Still this year we haven't participate in Google Code-in program, so I see the count as extra positive.
- We've seen in 10.x an increase with +6.93% in percent of issues reported by external contributors.
- 80.24% of reported issues are created by 20.81% reporters (31 XWiki SAS employees).
- 19.76% (321 issues) of reported issues come from external contributors (118 reporters).
- External contributors report an average of 2.72 issues.
Top Reported Components
- Our top components that had issues reported in the past 2 years are pretty constant: Notifications, Web - Templates & Resources and Old Core.
Top Reported Types
Note: there is still time to report issues until the end of the year.
- In 14-Nov we already have -4.93% percent decrease in the number of bugs reported.
- Also we have +3.67% percent increase in the number of improvements reported.
- Plus we have +55% percent increase in the number of new features reported.
- I've marked the trend as positive, considering a lower number of bugs reported and an increase interest in improvements and features.
Top Reported Priorities
Note: there is still time to report issues until the end of the year.
- In 14-Nov we have -16.10% percent decrease in the number of Blockers reported.
- Also we have -12.90% percent decrease in the number of Critical reported.
- I've marked the trend as positive because of a lower number of Blocker and Critical issues reported, compared to the previous timeframe.
Top Critical Components
Note: there is still time to report issues until the end of the year.
- The top component that has Blocker issues is Notifications and has a +28.57% percent increase in the number of Blockers & Critical issues reported.
- Old Core has a +26.67% percent increase in the number of Blockers & Critical issues reported.
- Web - Templates & Resources has a -27.27% percent decrease in the number of Blockers & Critical issues reported.
- I've marked the trend as negative because of an increase number of Blocker and Critical issues reported in the top components.
Top Reported Labels
- In terms of labeled issues we see an increase in the BFD work we did, having a +30.70% percent increase compared to the value last year.
- On the other hand Usability issues had a significant decrease of -56.41% percent of reported issues compared to last year.
- Performance issues also got a -42.11% percent decrease.
- Onboarding and Regression issues remained constant.
- A decreasing percentage of a particular label could mean that there are no more problems in that particular area, or the focus for the topic decreased over the period. We will need to compare the labels with the Resolved Issues analysis.
Absorption Rate
Note: there is still time to report issues until the end of the year.
- Harder to draw conclusions, since the issues reported in 9.x cycle had double the time to get resolved. Because of this I've investigated issues created and resolved in the same timeframe.
- In terms of issues created and resolved in the same year, the Fixed percentage has a +5% overall percent increase compared to 2017.
- We also see a lower percentage (-3% overall percent) of Duplicate issues.
- Because the differences are low, the conclusion might change at the end of the year.
